Liz Shippam

Arundel Gallery Trail 2017

Liz is a botanical artist based in Chichester, close to the beautiful South Downs.  As a child she spent many hours painting and drawing and left school at 16 to study a preliminary course at West Sussex College of Art and Design.  However, having always wanted to travel she then set off to see the world, spending time in Europe and then a number of years in South East Asia.  It was only in 2011, after decades without picking up a paint brush, that Liz rediscovered her love of painting and began working in water colour for the first time to paint botanical subjects.  Liz finds the detail and accuracy required are well matched to her way of painting but her primary aim is to communicate to the viewer what it is she finds particularly captivating about her subject matter, whether form, texture or the subtly beautiful colours of the natural world.

Liz is a member of the American Society of Botanical Artists and has exhibited at their Annual International Exhibition in New York for the past few years.   She also exhibits regularly in London as well as locally.
