The embroidery drawings

 

The embroidery drawings differ from Toni Davey's usual practice as they are not purely abstract.

​

The series started by visiting memories of a chaotic and stormy childhood where sanctuary, calm and order were found in the geometry, patterns and rules of needlecraft.

 

The SAMPLER drawing made for the Changing Times exhibition uses the alphabetic format of the digital keyboard.  From the original drawing she worked with Advanced Graphics, London to produce the screen print shown at The RA Summer Show.  Toni then enjoyed the act of embroidering onto some of the prints with ink.

 

The Covid sampler was inevitable.
