Gallery 57 opened in March 2016 and is part of a Grade 2 listed, Georgian house where owner and practicing artist, Ann Symes, lives.  This light, spacious gallery with a nod to its residential origins, provides a comfortable and welcoming space in which contemporary artworks are sympathetically displayed with attention to detail.

Local, national and international artists and makers are invited to take part in a programme of thoughtfully curated, themed exhibitions.  The gallery often provides surprise and interest by selecting artists whose working methods have a more unusual approach to materials and techniques.  By placing importance on how work is displayed and given space, it creates the calm aesthetic for which the gallery has become known.

Ann's studio is linked to the gallery where she sometimes works when the gallery is open. Occasionally, the studio space is used for one day workshops run by experienced tutors and makers.

The gallery has a strong online presence which has led to worldwide connections.

Gallery 57 is welcoming and you can spend as much time as you like browsing, asking questions, looking at the latest craft related magazines or meeting friends.
