sculptural ceramics 2026

Informed by her backgound in design and fine art, Caroline Gray’s sculptural works celebrate colour and form, creating an interplay and dialogue between the pieces themselves and the interiors and spaces they are placed in.

The flat pattern or template is central to her process. Her free-hand slab building technique allows each initial piece to evolve intuitively as she alters, splices and rejoins the clay to create the curves, planes and angles which render each piece subtley unique. The slow, contemplative process of hand-building is at the heart of her practice as is the use of coloured terra sigillata, a super-refined slip which reveals the play of colour, light, shadow which give her pieces personality, movement and life.
