Jane Ponsford is an artist and papermaker who works using repetitive processes, constructing works often made using many identical forms to make bookworks, and sculptural pieces. For this exhibition she has brought together pieces which investigate how materials can be held together or held apart and how they react to this stimulus.

Several of the works have the title, ‘Bound’ which is an interesting word with meanings that all include some kind of fixing in place whether that’s binding the pages of a book or something more like binding a captive or making a spell.

NB Tropism is a positive or negative response of an organism in response to a stimulus.
