Serena Smith - Linear expression exhibition

At the heart of Serena's practice is the illusive challenge of creating a visual language.  Using the tools and materials of drawing and printmaking, this work is an attempt to create images and objects that have the potential to invoke other, less immediately visible experience.

Recent projects include a series of lithographs that bring together aspects of her local landscape, with forms used within religious art and poetry (Psalter, Labyrinth, Hodegetria);  the polyptych structure, derived from the use of multiple stones, reflects the layout of illuminated manuscripts.

Alongside her studio practice Serena supports the development of other artists through educational projects, technical support and collaborations.
