Sue Jones has always been drawn to sculpture and would have to touch the artwork to connect and experience the textures and shapes. When she sculpts she draws inspiration from all the natural shapes that she sees on her walks that nature has designed already. From the patterns on the beach that are left by the sea, plant seed heads, ripples of water, textures of tree bark, shapes of leaves, it all feeds into her creative emotions.

She loves her work to be touched and enjoys watching people read the shapes and textures by handling them, as Sue did when creating them.

Sue Jones was born in 1964 and grew up in Shropshire, at the age of 16 she moved to Oxfordshire to work with horses and fell in love with the county. Joining the Bicester Sculpture Group in 2009 is when she started sculpting and she currently works at Wilcote Art Studios, near Woodstock in the Cotswolds. 

 

Sue works with a number of materials to depict the ideas resulting in finished sculptures including Bronze, cold cast Bronze  and is currently focusing on Slate work and Cotswold Stone pieces.

Sue is a current member of the Oxford Sculptors Group and an associate member of the Penwith Gallery, St Ives. She has exhibited her work in a number of prestigious galleries and her work has sold nationally and internationally.
