sculptural ceramics 2026

Zoe Williams creates delicate sculptural ceramic works that blur the boundaries between the natural and the imagined. Her recent body of work brings together natural materials such as lichen and twigs with their porcelain interpretations creating sculptural ceramic ‘specimens’ that explore the interplay between nature’s continual adaptation and the impact of human activity on our fragile environment.

Presented within meticulously crafted vitrine-style frames, the works evoke the visual language of biological collections and scientific display, occupying an ambiguous space between specimen, artefact and sculpture. At the heart of the work is an exploration of nature’s capacity to adapt and transform. Moving beyond literal representation, Zoe aims to create poetic forms that feel both familiar and unfamiliar.

Zoe trained as a fine artist at Brighton School of Art before completing her MA in Barcelona where she went on to live and worked for over eight years. Following more than twelve years in Los Angeles Zoe returned to the UK at the end of 2021, spending four years living outside of Bristol where she was a full time member and former teacher at Clay Shed studios. She currently lives and works in London.
